HIGH YIELD: RETURNS AT WHAT PRICE?
Panel Discussion | Wed, April 28, 2021 | 9:30am CEST
In the low interest rate environment, investors are facing the need to accept more risk. High-yield bonds have therefore become the focus of many institutional investors. But the market environment is unclear. How fast will the global economy recover from Covid-19? Will inflation return and interest rate risk rise? What impact will fiscal and monetary measures have on the high-yield bond market? Europe or emerging markets – where can investors find investment opportunities in this situation? We discuss the topic with two renowned experts.
Exclusively for institutional and professional investors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
All presentations will be held in English.
Start and welcome
Roman Gaiser, Head of High Yield EMEA, Columbia Threadneedle Investments
The presentation will look at the differing impacts the Covid-19 pandemic has had across the market, sectors and companies (example: looking at highly Covid sensitive sectors, such as airlines, leisure, travel, pubs) and how our European High Yield Strategy has looked at both now and beyond to determine opportunity and value.
Wai Mei Leong, Director of Fixed Income Credits, Eastspring Investments
The sharp rise in US interest rates has cast a shadow over global bond markets. In Asia, the tightening of credit conditions in China has also led to negative news. Despite these concerns, however, Asian high-yield bonds have proven resilient compared to other bond segments. But how will the high-yield bond market evolve in Asia?
